Manchester United are determined to beat Manchester City to Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly desperate to beat rivals Manchester City to the signature of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes in this summer's transfer window.

Fernandes scored 32 times and contributed 18 assists in 53 appearances for Sporting during the 2018-19 season, which is believed to have led to a host of interest.

United have been strongly linked with the Portugal international over the last few months, but the 24-year-old recently said that there had been 'no contact with any club'.

According to A Bola, despite City's interest, United are prepared to outbid their rivals for Fernandes and have therefore moved to the head of the queue for the attacking midfielder.

The Portuguese has a contract at the Estadio Jose Alvalade until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
