Donny van de Beek reportedly cannot leave Manchester United due to his former agent refusing to release him from a binding contract.

Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek will reportedly not be able to complete a transfer elsewhere this month due to a bust-up with his agent.

The former Ajax man's playing situation has not improved since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and as a result he is still being heavily linked with a move elsewhere.

Van de Beek's proposed switch to Everton in the summer ultimately fell apart, and as a result the midfielder left agent Guido Albers to work with Ali Dursun.

However, The Mirror reports that Van de Beek is still in a binding contract with former representative Albers, and Dursun will be unable to act as part of the Dutchman's entourage without Albers's permission.

A source told the publication: "It is very difficult to see how Van de Beek can move in this window. Dursun cannot secure a mandate to agree a deal because Donny is still under contract to be represented by Albers' agency.

"That two-year agreement does not expire till the end of the season. So, unless something changes, the player will remain in Manchester."

Van de Beek is yet to start a Premier League game this season and has only played 67 minutes of top-flight football in the 2021-22 season.
