Louis van Gaal calls on David de Gea to clarify future at Manchester United

Louis van Gaal urges keeper David de Gea to clarify whether he wants to remain at Manchester United after being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Louis van Gaal has called on keeper David de Gea to clarify his future at Manchester United.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid to become the long-term successor to Iker Casillas, but the Red Devils are determined to keep the 24-year-old.

Van Gaal would not be drawn on the future of his keeper, but has put the ball in De Gea's court to state whether he will remain at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal told BBC Sport: "I cannot say that. He has to say something not I."

The Dutchman has also admitted that he faces a decision on whether to make his side's loan move for Radamel Falcao permanent following an underwhelming season.

He added: "Also we have tomorrow still a day. Maybe. I have to say something to him."

United drew 0-0 against Hull City on the final day of the season.
