Roy Hodgson has warned England players playing for Manchester United that their form could cost them a place in the Three Lions' World Cup squad.
Hodgson will name his 30-man provisional squad on May 12, with Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck expected to be included along with defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
However, there are doubts whether the trio of Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick will be on the plane to Brazil given their struggles this season.
Hodgson told reporters: "United are one of the few teams that have had a lot of English players, but players have to accept their England careers are tied up with club careers.
"I'm pretty certain that the Manchester United players will understand that there's no God-given right that because they've played in a few games up to now, they'll play all the games in the future.
"It's up to me to pick the best players for the job at any given moment."
United suffered their seventh home defeat of the season against Sunderland on Saturday.
