Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is pleased with his side's current form, despite their recent failure to find the net.

The North East club's goalless draw with Reading on Saturday marked the third consecutive game in which they have not been able to score, but Mowbray insists that their performances have been good enough to keep them near the top of the table.

"We had the chances to win but they just didn't go in," said Mowbray. "We are now averaging two points a game and with that we will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

"We are not head and shoulders above other teams but to supporters who say we are not scoring enough goals I say just look at the table.

"We try to win every game and we have got a few goals on the road this season. I thought it was decent game."

Despite the draw, Boro remain second in the Championship table, but there is now a two-point gap between them and leaders Southampton after the Saints' 4-0 win against Watford.
