Jonathan Woodgate has acknowledged that Middlesbrough must be consistent if they are to achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Middlesbrough have picked up three points from their opening two matches, but Woodgate believes that they will need to improve on that if they are to have a chance of returning to the Premier League.

Woodgate told BBC Tees: "It's the team that is most consistent that will go up and that is what we need to prove.

"Hopefully we can do that to be in the top two."

Middlesbrough host Crystal Palace on Saturday.
