Former Newcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas has claimed that the Magpies players will feel "loved" under new manager Steve McClaren.
The 54-year-old took over from John Carver in June, signing a three-year deal at St James's Park, and was also appointed to the Newcastle United Board of Directors.
Jenas told BBC Sport: "I played under Steve McClaren when he was England manager and I worked under him at QPR last season. What I can say is that those Newcastle players are going to feel loved and they are going to be prepared."
Newcastle, who take on Southampton on Sunday, ended the 2014-15 Premier League season in 15th place, but only survived relegation on the final day.
