Steve McClaren bans swearing from Newcastle United players, staff

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren bans swearing in training and the use of mobile phones during work hours, according to reports.

Steve McClaren has stamped his authority on his role as Newcastle United boss by banning swear words during training, according to reports.

The 54-year-old replaced John Carver at St James' Park last month following a season that saw the Magpies flirt with relegation, surviving by four points in the end.

The former England manager has banned all types of swear words in an effort to improve discipline, according to The Mirror.

The report states that McClaren has also banned the use of mobile phones during work hours and sent two players home after arriving five minutes late to training.

United kick off the 2015-16 Premier League season by hosting Southampton on August 8.
