Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew says that he wants to finish this weekend's Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland with 11 players on the pitch.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has claimed that he expects emotions to run high in this weekend's Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland.

Last season's encounter, which resulted in a touchline spat between Pardew and Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill, finished with two red cards and eight bookings.

"There is a little bit of passion flying about and it needs to be conducted in the right manner by players and staff alike," said Pardew.

"Martin O'Neill wants to win, I want to win, Sunderland want to win and Newcastle want to win, so it is a big, big game. Both myself and Martin will be very keen that 11 men end the game. You have got to control your emotions because at some point, there will be a flash-point in the game."

Newcastle head into the clash in 10th place in the Premier League table, while Sunderland sit two points adrift of their rivals.
