Moussa Sissoko eyes top-eight finish at Newcastle United

Moussa Sissoko targets a finish in the higher reaches of the Premier League with Newcastle United after seeing his side record five league wins in a row.

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has declared that a top-eight finish for the club in the Premier League would represent a "good" season.

The 25-year-old fired the Magpies to their fifth league win in a row with his strike against Queens Park Rangers last weekend, as Alan Pardew's charges continued their miraculous turnaround.

Having failed to win any of their opening seven games, Newcastle have well and truly recovered over the last six weeks to climb up to fifth place in the top flight.

"Maybe this is the best football of my career, it's true at the moment," The Northern Echo quotes Sissoko as saying. "I'm playing well and I'm happy. I will try to continue like this.

"If we can finish in the top eight, it will be good for me and the team. It's too early to say whether we can finish fifth or sixth or seventh. We just try to get a lot of points. In the second part of the season, we will see where we can finish."

Up next for Newcastle in the Premier League is a trip to face West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon.
