Nolberto Solano says that it could be a long season for Newcastle United if they do not start to win games.

Former Newcastle United star Nolberto Solano believes that his former side could be in for a long season unless they start winning games.

The Magpies have failed to emulate the type of form that led them to a fifth-placed finish last season so far during the current campaign, and were battered 7-3 at the hands of Arsenal on Saturday.

Newcastle currently sit 15th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone, and Solano is adamant that Tyneside outfit need a run of wins sooner rather than later.

"It's really really tough in December, for any team. If you have a bad run it is very easy to drop to the bottom. I hope for the Newcastle fans that they can get away from that situation. St. James' Park is not an easy place to go with the fans there," said Solano.

"Hopefully they will get enough of this situation, because otherwise it will be a really long season for them.

"It's not easy because the Geordies have a lot of passion and are always behind the team. They miss Hatem Ben Arfa at the moment, he's a big miss for them."

Newcastle host Everton on Wednesday.
