Report: Middlesbrough planning move for Sammy Ameobi

Middlesbrough are reportedly planning a bid for Newcastle United's Sammy Ameobi this summer.

Middlesbrough have reportedly identified Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi as one of their top transfer targets.

Ameobi, who is a graduate of the Newcastle academy, has struggled to secure a regular spot in the team despite being given a number of opportunities by Alan Pardew in the latter stages of last season.

According to the Newcastle Journal, any possible move could depend on whether the Magpies are successful in landing their own targets this summer.

If Newcastle can bring at least one forward to the club before the start of the new campaign, it is believed that they would welcome an offer from Middlesbrough for Ameobi.

The 22-year-old played nine times in a loan spell at the Riverside Stadium in the second half of the 2012-13 season.
