Newcastle United are reportedly ready to make a £12m bid for Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac.
The Magpies' chief scout Graham Carr has monitored the forward closely and the club feel that the offer will tempt the Ligue 1 side into doing business, according to the Daily Mail.
Newcastle were said to be keen on Vitesse Arnhem's £12m-rated Wilfried Bony, but have since turned their attention to French international Gignac.
The 27-year-old has scored four goals in 13 internationals for Les Bleus.
