San Lorenzo club president Matias Lammens confirms that the Argentinian outfit are keen on signing Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini.

San Lorenzo club president Matias Lammens has confirmed that the Argentinian outfit are keen on signing Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini.

Coloccini has three-and-a-half years to run on his current contract at St James' Park, but Lammens is hopeful that the 30-year-old may be interested in a return to his boyhood club.

"We know he is a fan and wants to return, so there could be a possibility," Lammens told Radio La Red.

"It's not impossible, but of course the only thing that can accelerate the situation is Fabricio's intentions."

Coloccini has made 168 first-team appearances for Newcastle since joining from Deportivo in August 2008.
