Moussa Sissoko eyes World Cup spot with France

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko wants to earn a place in France's squad for the World Cup next year with a strong season for the Magpies.

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko is hopeful that a strong season in the Premier League will win him a place in France's World Cup squad next year.

The 23-year-old has won eight caps for his national side since making his debut in 2009 and is optimistic that a good campaign with the Magpies will see him earn a place on the plane with Didier Deschamps's men.

Sissoko told the club's official website: "The manager played me as a number 10 for a large part of last season and I'm very happy to play there. But next season we'll see what happens. We'll see what the manager wants, see where he wants me to play.

"I'll try and adapt the best I can but the objective for me is just to come out and have a good season personally because next summer is a World Cup year.

"So I want to to try and play well. I'll be motivated so I can get into a good position personally to try and attack the French national team and get into the squad."

Sissoko joined Newcastle in January for £2m from Toulouse.
