FIFA announce that goalline technology could be introduced soon pending a last set of tests.

FIFA have announced that goalline technology could be introduced soon pending a final set of tests.

The International Football Association Board are currently conducting a second round of tests to determine what the best system to use would be.

The debate on whether to use technology flared up again on Sunday following Juan Mata's controversial goal in Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final win over Tottenham Hotspur.

"The latest planning meeting for test phase two was held on Friday, and the second phase of tests will commence before end of April, and will continue throughout May," read a FIFA statement.

World football's governing body are expected to decide by Monday, July 2 if any system will be implemented.

Hawkeye, which is used in tennis and cricket, and GoalRef are the two methods that are currently undergoing testing.
