Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi rues quit threat

Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi expresses his regret at suggesting that he wanted to quit the club.

Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has said that he regrets suggesting that he wanted to sell the club.

After finding himself drawn into an argument over Twitter regarding his running of the club and the sacking of Stuart Pearce, the Kuwaiti businessman responded to the question of him stepping down as chairman to just become the club's owner by tweeting: "I will soon from everything".

Al Hasawi now says that he is fully committed to the East Midlands outfit and should not have posted the tweet.

"I was upset but it was a mistake from me and I admit it. I will not hide," he told BBC East Midlands Today.

"I made a mistake and answered back but I will never leave Forest. I like Forest, I like the people, I like the stadium and the club. And even if I decide to leave, I will do it in the right way.

"I don't blame the fans. They always want what is good for the club."

Dougie Freedman has been appointed as Pearce's successor.
