Late equaliser gives Nottingham Forest draw with Swedish side Mjallby

Chris Burke scores a late equaliser to give Nottingham Forest a 1-1 draw with Mjallby AIF of Sweden in a pre-season friendly.

Nottingham Forest needed a late goal to secure a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly with Swedish side Mjallby AIF this evening.

The Swedish club took the lead just 10 minutes into the match when Benjamin Fadi picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and drilled it low into the bottom-right corner.

Forest created a host of chances as they pushed to get back on level terms, but Henri Lansbury, Michail Antonio and Nicky Maynard were all denied.

Mattias Asper continued to come under pressure in the home side's goal early in the second half, but Antonio and Maynard could not get the better of the Mjallby captain.

The English side looked the more likely throughout the second half though, and eventually found the back of the net when Jamie Ward delivered a low cross for Chris Burke to power in at the back post.

Paul Taylor, who is on trial with Forest, came close to firing in a late winner for the visitors, but his shot was deflected just high of the crossbar, ensuring that the score finished level.
