Olympiacos head coach Oscar Garcia steps down

Olympiacos manager Oscar Garcia steps down amid a period of turmoil for the Greek club.

Oscar Garcia has resigned as manager of Olympiacos during a period of turmoil for the Greek club.

The Spaniard left his post with the Superleague champions having slipped to third place in the table, nine points behind leaders AEK Athens with four games to go.

Earlier this week, club president Evangelos Marinakis sent the entire first team on an enforced holiday and fined them for slipping off the pace in the title race.

"I want to thank the president for giving me the opportunity to coach the best team in Greece," Marca quotes Garcia as saying.

Olympiacos have won the Greek Superleague title for the last seven years in a row.
