Parma overcome struggling Sassuolo

Parma extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to four matches thanks to a 3-1 victory at home to struggling Sassuolo.

Parma have extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to four matches with a 3-1 win at home to struggling Sassuolo.

The hosts took the lead on 32 minutes when Raffaele Palladino pounced to head in Antonio Cassano's cross.

However, there was drama at the end of the first half as Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante was shown a red card after bringing down Domenico Berardi inside the box.

Berardi stepped up to take the resulting penalty and had little trouble converting it as the visitors went in level at the break.

Sassuolo put up plenty of resistance at the start of the second half, but the home side regained the advantage with 20 minutes left thanks to Aleandro Rosi's header from another Cassano cross.

Cassano then got on the scoresheet himself in the 76th minute when he sprang the offside trap before finding the bottom corner.

Sassuolo's afternoon got worse in the final five minutes as Francesco Magnanelli was sent off for two bookings in quick succession.
