Port Vale quartet sign new deals

Sam Johnson, Louis Dodds, Chris Birchall and Tom Morris all sign new contracts with Port Vale, while John McCombe leaves the League One new boys.

Sam Johnson, Louis Dodds, Chris Birchall and Tom Morris have all signed new contracts with Port Vale.

Goalkeeper Johnson, 20, and 26-year-old forward Dodds have penned two-year deals.

Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Birchall, 29, and teenage defender Morris have committed their futures to Vale for the next 12 months.

Manager Micky Adams told the club's official website: "Preparations are continuing in earnest for the new campaign and I'm really pleased that all four players have decided to commit their immediate futures to Port Vale Football Club."

Meanwhile, defender John McCombe has left the League One new boys by mutual consent.

The 28-year-old centre-half made 206 appearances for the Burslem outfit, which he joined from Hereford United in 2008.
