Ryan Taylor brace gives Portsmouth comeback win over Tranmere Rovers

Ryan Taylor bags a last-gasp brace to give Portsmouth a surprise 3-2 comeback victory over Tranmere Rovers in League Two.

Ryan Taylor's late brace ensured that Portsmouth came from two goals down to claim a memorable 3-2 comeback win over Tranmere Rovers in League Two this evening.

After a tame opening to the game, Rovers took the lead in the 28th minute when Rory Donnelly found Jennison Myrie-Williams inside the box, leaving his teammate to convert into the bottom-right corner.

Portsmouth could do little to muster anything in the way of a chance in the first half, with Jed Wallace showing his frustration with a shot from distance that was comfortably saved by Owain Fon Williams.

Rovers grabbed a vital second goal five minutes after the break when Myrie-Williams found Kayode Odejayi, who made no mistake with a header from close range to make it 2-0.

Portsmouth had not given up the fight, though, and they grabbed a goal back in the 76th minute as Matt Tubbs picked out Craig Westcarr, who headed down into the bottom left corner.

The home side sensed a potential comeback was on the cards and Ryan Taylor equalised eight minutes from time having profited from some industrious play from Dan Butler.

Pompey's dream night was finalised just three minutes later as Taylor bagged his brace with a header from Jack Whatmough's cross, leaving them to pull off a surprise 3-2 victory.
