Portugal impress during the opening 45 minutes of their Euro 2012 semi-final with Spain, but the game remains goalless at the break.

Portugal have done much in the first 45 minutes of their Euro 2012 semi-final with Spain to suggest that they are capable of shocking the reigning champions.

The underdogs denied the Spaniards time and space in midfield and Vicente del Bosque's men have looked unusually worried in possession.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani provided a continuous threat on the counter-attack for Paulo Bento's men.

The former Manchester United teammates have used their pace and trickery to get in behind Spain's full-backs on numerous occasions.

Ronaldo had the best chance of the game so far on 30 minutes, when his low left-footed shot dragged narrowly wide of Iker Casillas's near post.

Spain had a couple of meaningful chances themselves. The first fell to Alvaro Arbeloa on nine minutes.

The Real Madrid defender, who is yet to score at international level, fired narrowly over the crossbar from 18 yards after Andres Iniesta had created space with a clever jinking run.

Iniesta was then a whisker away from opening the scoring himself after 28 minutes, as his finessed shot from the edge of the area shaved the crossbar.

Fabio Coentrao and Sergio Ramos have both picked up yellow cards.
