Portugal expect Nani to be ready to go after injury in friendly

Portugal winger Nani declared fit for Euro 2012 after a foot problem ruined his preparations.

Portuguese winger Nani has handed Portugal a major boost by being passed fit for Euro 2012.

Nani picked up a foot injury in Portugal's shock 3-1 friendly defeat against Turkey and it was feared his place in the starting team for this summer's tournament was under threat.

Portugal team doctor Henrique Jones has said he believe Nani will be available for his team's opener against Germany on June 9.

Jones told Portugoal.net: "Nani had a traumatic situation in his (right) foot, the same foot that he had problems with at Manchester United during the season.

"But I think it's nothing serious and I think he'll recover for the first match."

Nani will need to fit and in form to give Portugal a chance of progressing from a daunting Group B alongside Germany, Holland and Denmark.
