Simon Grayson 'satisfied' by Preston North End clean sheet record

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson praises his hard-working defenders after achieving a club-record six clean sheets in succession.

Simon Grayson has admitted to feeling "a lot of satisfaction" following Preston North End's sixth clean sheet on the bounce.

The Lilywhites kept Queens Park Rangers at bay in a goalless draw on Saturday to achieve a new club record for successive shutouts.

Grayson puts the solid defensive streak down to each member of his squad working hard on the training ground, claiming that every player competes with their heart on their sleeve.

"I think everybody deserves a huge amount of credit," he told BBC Sport. "We've worked hard on the training ground, but you can do that and not put it into practice on a matchday, and full credit to the players that have done it.

"We've got Tom Clarke out, Greg Cunningham out, so we've not really had a first-choice back four or five and the lads that have been there have been fantastic.

"It was a really professional performance and a lot of satisfaction for the players who've dug deep again, defended with their lives and worked extremely hard so it is a really pleasing result."

Four goalless draws in their last five outings leaves Preston four points clear of the Championship drop zone.
