Carlo Ancelotti says that Javier Pastore is not indispensible ahead of their Ligue 1 clash with Lyon at the Stade de Gerland.

Carlo Ancelotti has said that he will not rush Javier Pastore back into the starting lineup for Paris Saint-Germain's visit to Lyon.

The Argentine playmaker has been sidelined with a groin injury sustained during PSG's 4-0 Coupe de France victory over Sable-sur Sarthe last month.

Pastore came off the bench to help Les Parisiens snatch a late draw against title rivals Montpellier HSC last Sunday.

However, Ancelotti has said that the midfielder is not indispensible and has no problem with naming him on the bench.

"I do not know if Pastore will play from the first minute because he needs to work on his fitness," the Italian told Maxifoot.fr.

"He was important against Montpellier. He has great qualities and is a major player. Conversely, he is not indispensable. No player is indispensable."

The 22-year-old joined PSG from Italian side Palermo in the summer for a reported fee of €40m (£33.8m).
