Dhorasoo: "PSG have no history"

Vikash Dhorasoo questions his former club's ability to attract top quality players to the Parc des Princes.

Vikash Dhorasoo has claimed that former club Paris Saint-Germain lack the history required to entice Europe's top players.

Les Parisiens have spent big since being taken over by Qatar Investment Authority in August, outlined by their €43million (£35million) purchase of Argentine midfielder Javier Pastore.

However, Dhorasoo, who also enjoyed spells at Lyon and AC Milan, has said that it takes more than money to attract a player.

"In general it is the history of a club which makes players come," said the former French international midfielder. "This club has no history.

"Today, PSG's coach, sporting director, a little glamour and a lot of money [makes players come], but nothing else. With these four ingredients PSG can attract second-rank players. Paris are a second choice for the big players.

"Maybe later it will become a choice, but honestly, if tomorrow I had the choice between Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG and their millions, I would always go to Barca or Real Madrid."

Dhorasoo played 37 games for PSG between 2005 and 2006, before being sacked for an outburst aimed at then-manager Guy Lacombe.
