David Beckham will start his first match as a Paris Saint-Germain player against Marseille tomorrow night.

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that David Beckham will make his first start for Paris Saint-Germain during tomorrow's French Cup clash against Marseille.

The former England captain was given his debut against the same opposition on Sunday evening when he came off the bench to play a part in PSG's second goal, which sealed a 2-0 victory for the home side.

His cameo performance was enough to impress Ancelotti, who will deploy the 37-year-old in a defensive role.

"Yes, Beckham will start in the position of [suspended midfielder] Marco Verratti," Ancelotti told reporters.

"It's an important position. Beckham must help make the play and defensively have a good tactical position on the pitch. He will have the same things to do as Verratti.

"Can he still take corners and free kicks? He has the quality to do so. He can play a whole match."

Beckham signed a five-month contract with the Parisiens in January.
