Frank Leboeuf believes that Leonardo's comments about the standard of Ligue 1 are only going to affect Paris Saint-Germain.
The Brazilian claims that PSG are "perhaps a team made for Europe, based on talent and the quality of passing, not for this kind of game" following their 1-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Reims away from home on Saturday.
"I really liked Leonardo as a player - he had a lot of class - but as soon as he opens his mouth, it's just incredible," Leboeuf told RMC Radio.
"Given his job, I don't understand what he's doing in front of a microphone. There's a coach who he chose along with the president. Let Ancelotti talk, as he can analyse games better than Leonardo.
"He's hurting his own club at the moment. He's finding excuses for the players. It's a lack of respect towards their opponents and the PSG fans. He should know his place."
Leonardo was appointed PSG's sporting director in 2011.
