Thomas Meunier: 'Paris Saint-Germain not dependent on Neymar'

Meunier: 'PSG not dependent on Neymar'

Thomas Meunier insists that Paris Saint-Germain "do not have a Neymar dependence", despite dropping points for the first time this season in the Brazilian's absence.

Paris Saint-Germain full-back Thomas Meunier has denied suggestions that his side have become over-reliant on Neymar after firing a blank in the Brazilian forward's absence.

The former Barcelona ace was left out of the squad for the Parisians' trip to Montpellier HSC on Saturday due to a foot problem, a week on from his on-field spat with attacking teammate Edinson Cavani.

PSG failed to find a way through at the Stade de la Mosson as they dropped points for the first time this season in a goalless draw, but Meunier is adamant that there are others in the team who can successfully replace Neymar.

"We don't have a Neymar dependence," he told reporters. "He is an exceptional player but when you see our team, you can't say that we don't win because Neymar is not here.

"We have players who can make a difference. Individually they know how to get the team out of complicated situations. It was a little more difficult because we faced a team of Montpellier who gave 100%."

Neymar, who joined in a record £198m deal from Barcelona, has scored four goals and tallied as many assists in his first five games in the French top flight.
