Thiago Motta backs struggling Angel di Maria

Angel di Maria will overcome his recent struggles at Paris Saint-Germain, insists the Argentine's club teammate Thiago Motta.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has insisted that out-of-form Angel di Maria still has the full support of everyone involved with the French giants.

Di Maria, 28, has only scored once in 12 appearances for PSG this term and has failed to find the back of the net in eight Ligue 1 matches for the French champions at the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

The former Manchester United winger has come under fire from the French press in recent weeks, but Motta has backed the Argentina international to overcome his recent struggles.

"Everybody believes in him - the coach and his teammates," Motta told beIN Sports. "He is not isolated, he talks with everyone and is well integrated in the dressing room.

"We know what he is capable of and that is why we always want to see the best of Angel. It is the team that can help Angel raise his level. If the team improves, Angel will be the player he was before again. When we do not score goals, it's a collective problem. We have to do better to set up our attackers."

PSG are currently third in the Ligue 1 standings - six points off unbeaten leaders Nice.
