Paris Saint-Germain rule out Salvatore Sirigu exit

Paris Saint-Germain insist that Salvatore Sirigu has a future at the club, despite the arrival of Kevin Trapp.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has said that the club have no plans to sell goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

The Italian international's future at the club has come under scrutiny following the arrival of Kevin Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, PSG have insisted that Trapp has been brought in to provide competition for Sirigu and not take his place as their first-choice goalkeeper.

"Salvatore is a very good goalkeeper," Al-Khelaifi told reporters. "I haven't forgotten than in 2011 he was one of the first to believe in our project. He helped us to quickly build a competitive team which has won three league titles in France and several other trophies.

"If we want to fight for a place at the top of European football, we must have more than one good player in every key position.

"As you know, that's the way it is at several top European clubs. Salvatore is well aware of that."

Sirigu joined PSG from Palermo in July 2011 and has gone on to win three league titles with the club.
