Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey "delighted" by James Perch arrival

QPR boss Chris Ramsey claims that new signing James Perch will be a "real asset" at Loftus Road.

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey has backed new signing James Perch to be a "real asset" for the team this season.

The 29-year-old defender joined the Championship club from Wigan Athletic on Friday for an undisclosed fee.

Ramsey believes that Perch's versatility and knowledge of the second tier will make him a valuable player for the R's this term.

"James is a proven Championship performer, with great versatility across a number of positions," he told the club's official website.

"He can cover both full-back positions, centre-half and holding midfield, so he'll be a real asset for us. He'll add experience to a relatively young squad, so we're delighted he's put pen to paper."

QPR start the new season with a trip to Charlton Athletic on August 8.
