Preview: Queens Park Rangers vs. Derby County

Sports Mole previews the Championship battle between Queens Park Rangers and Derby County.

Queens Park Rangers can put pressure on Burnley if they manage to grab maximum points from their Championship clash against Derby County.

The R's welcome Steve McClaren's Derby side to Loftus Road this Saturday on the back of a goalless draw with Wigan Athletic, leaving them third in the table on 28 points from 13 fixtures.

Harry Redknapp's men have failed to snatch a victory in their last three outings, with Burnley taking advantage of the West London side's dip with a 2-0 win at Turf Moor.

However, QPR were unable to respond to their defeat against Wigan, and as a result will be unable to move back to the top of the table even if they win at Loftus Road on Saturday, but they could leapfrog Leicester City into second place.

For Derby, they sit nine points adrift of their opponents this weekend, but the arrival of new boss McClaren has boosted the Rams, resulting in two victories and one draw since the ex-England boss took over.

Despite a positive run, Derby have only kept one clean sheet this season, which QPR could capitalise on as they have netted 14 goals in 13 fixtures so far in the campaign.

The last time these two clubs met was back in 2011 at QPR's home turf, but neither side could find the breakthrough, resulting in a goalless affair and one point apiece.

Joey Barton could return to the lineup for the home side, with Charlie Austin leading the line, while on-loan defender Andre Wisdom could keep his place in the Derby side following last week's debut.
