Queens Park Rangers storm into double figures against replacement Verona Stars

Queens Park Rangers record an emphatic 10-0 victory against Verona Stars, a late replacement for Shakhtar Donetsk, in Saturday's pre-season friendly in Italy.

Queens Park Rangers have stormed to an emphatic 10-0 victory against Verona Stars in Saturday's pre-season friendly at the Stadio Comunale di Dormelletto.

The West London club were originally scheduled to play Shakhtar Donetsk, but the Ukrainian side withdrew on the eve of the game.

The Italian trial side, drafted in at the last moment, got off to a poor start as Samba Diakite bagged two goals in the space of as many minutes early on, before Sebastian Polter slotted home his side's third off the near post.

Chris Ramsey made 10 changes at the break with the R's 3-0 up, and before long they were on the scoresheet again, Alejandro Faurlin's corner bundled into the Verona net by Clint Hill.

The hosts held firm for a period but the floodgates soon opened, with Faurlin, Reece Grego-Cox, Ben Gladwin and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas adding a goal apiece to put QPR eight up by the 80th minute.

Junior Hoilett then struck moments after Verona's subsequent restart before Gladwin nudged the scoreline into double figures two minutes before the end.
