Queens Park Rangers confirm Idrissa Sylla arrival

Queens Park Rangers announce the signing of striker Idrissa Sylla from Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee.

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the signing of Idrissa Sylla from Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the club, keeping him at Loftus Road until 2019.

The Guinea international, who will wear the number 40 shirt for QPR, is thought to have cost around £1.5m.

"This is a very exciting move for me. I have always dreamt about playing football in England and the opportunity to join QPR was something that really appealed to me," he told the club's official website.

"Les [Ferdinand] and Jimmy [Floyd Hasselbaink] both made me feel really wanted and I had a good feeling about QPR from the moment I heard about their interest in me. I am pleased to be here and can't wait to get started."

Manager Hasselbaink added: "This is very good business for the club. Everyone knows we were looking for another number nine. This was not easy to find, but we are very happy to find this boy and do this business. He is very good in the air, and scores quite a lot of goals with his head. He is technically very good, and we feel he will add to the squad.

"We also feel there is a lot of improvement in him. He can get better and stronger. I see him as an out-and-out striker. He is going to come in and fight against Sebastian Polter and Conor Washington. I am thankful for the work that has been done behind the scenes. Les has done a lot of work here, and the owners have supported us. Now the hard work starts to try to get him ready as quickly as possible for the pace of the Championship."

Sylla becomes QPR's sixth signing of the summer.
