Scottish Championship roundup: Rangers gain ground on Hearts

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's Scottish Championship action as Rangers close the gap at the top with a win at Dumbarton and Falkirk thrash Cowdenbeath 6-0.

Rangers reduced Hearts' lead at the top of the Scottish Championship to six points with a comfortable 3-0 win away to Dumbarton this afternoon.

Kenny Miller, Lee Wallace and Kris Boyd found the net to put some pressure on the Jambos, who take on Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby tomorrow.

The result of the afternoon was Falkirk's emphatic 6-0 victory over bottom club Cowdenbeath in which six different players were on target - Rory Loy, David Smith, Alex Cooper, Peter Grant, David McCracken and Will Vaulks.

A 1-1 draw at home to Alloa Athletic was enough to move Raith Rovers up to fourth in the table, and shift the visitors off the bottom in the process.

Queen of the South remain in third, despite surrendering a two-goal lead away to Livingston, who salvaged a point thanks to late goals from Daniel Mullen and Gary Glen.

Results in full: Dumbarton 0-3 Rangers, Falkirk 6-0 Cowdenbeath, Livingston 2-2 Queen of the South, Raith Rovers 1-1 Alloa
