Scottish Championship Roundup: Big wins for Rangers, Hearts

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday afternoon's Scottish Championship action as Rangers and Hearts both record convincing wins.

Rangers were unable to close the gap on Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership this afternoon despite thrashing Raith Rovers 6-1 at Ibrox.

The Glasgow side took the lead early on through a Lee McCulloch header, with Nicky Law doubling their advantage before the break.

Goals for Kenny Miller, Kris Boyd and a double for substitute Jon Daly compounded a miserable afternoon for Rovers, who were within touching distance of Ally McCoist's men before the start of play.

Hearts, meanwhile, put in an equally-impressive performance in their rout of Dumbarton, also going in at the break two goals to the good and finishing the day on the right end of a 5-1 scoreline, with striker Osman Sow continuing his good run of form for the Edinburgh outfit.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Queen of the South and Cowdenbeath, who battled to a 3-2 away win at Alloa Athletic to pull themselves out of the relegation zone and leave their opponents rock bottom.

Results in full: Rangers 6-1 Raith Rovers, Hearts 5-1 Dumbarton, Queen of the South 3-0 Falkirk, Alloa Athletic 2-3 Cowdenbeath
