Steve Clarke 'embarrassed' by "rubbish" Reading

Steve Clark hits out at "rubbish" Reading following his side's 1-0 home defeat to Wigan Athletic.

Reading boss Steve Clarke has slammed his side's "rubbish" performance in Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at home to Wigan Athletic.

Jason Pearce struck the only goal of the game on 17 minutes as the Royals missed the chance to move 12th in the Championship table.

It was Reading's second successive home defeat, and Clarke admits to being 'embarrassed' by his players' effort last night.

"That was rubbish," he told Sky Sports News. "I've no idea why so it's something I've got to look long and hard at.

"I need to find a different way to play at home. Maybe I need to change the team a bit. Our home performances and our away performances just don't relate to each other.

"It's very frustrating and I've got to be honest that tonight was a little bit embarrassing. It's really strange. We were so poor. I've got to go away and find a solution."

Clarke's side face promotion-chasing Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday.
