Team News: Harry Maguire, Jason Pearce handed Wigan Athletic debuts

Malky Mackay hands Wigan Athletic debuts to two players for tonight's trip to face Reading, while a third player will make his first start for the Latics.

Wigan Athletic manager Malky Mackay has made four changes to his starting lineup for this evening's trip to face Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

The Latics are in desperate need of a victory, having found themselves cut nine points from safety, and they have handed debuts to Harry Maguire and Jason Pearce for this one.

There is also a first start for Liverpool academy winger Sheyi Ojo, with Marc-Antoine Fortune making up the fourth alteration from Wigan's 3-0 defeat last time out, as Mackay opts to name a young-looking bench.

Steve Clarke has decided against handing Yakubu a starting spot this evening, instead calling upon Simon Cox and Pavel Pogrebnyak up top, while Hal Robson-Kanu - a scorer in the cup victory over Derby County at the weekend - is also named among the starting XI.

Elsewhere, Anton Ferdinand and Jem Karacan, nursing calf and knee injuries respectively, both miss out.

Reading XI: Federici, Kelly, Obita, Pearce, Chalobah, Williams, Norwood, Robson-Kanu, McCleary, Pogrebnyak, Cox
Subs: Andersen, Travner, Cooper, Akpan, Mackie, Blackman, Yakubu

Wigan Athletic XI: Al Habsi, Taylor, Maguire, Herd, McClean, Ojo, Clarke, Perch, Pearce, Fortune, Kvist
Subs: Carson, McKay, Kim, Bong, Waghorn, Flores, Robles
