Paolo Di Canio "ready" for Premier League management

Paolo Di Canio says that he is "ready" to manage in the Premier League or the Championship.

Former Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio has revealed that he is ready to manage in the Premier League.

The 44-year-old Italian has been linked with the managerial position at Reading following the Royals' sacking of Brian McDermott on Monday.

"I proved in League One and Two that I was the best manager, and I now feel that I am ready for the next level," Di Canio told BBC Sport before the departure of McDermott.

"I believe I am at a stage now where I am a Premier League or Championship manager."

Di Canio left Swindon in February following a dispute with the club over their transfer policy.
