Reading hammer Blackpool

Reading hammer Blackpool 5-1 in the Championship.

Reading have hammered Blackpool 5-1 at the Madejski Stadium in the Championship.

Adam Le Fondre opened the scoring after eight minutes when he turned it home after Gareth McCleary's shot rebounded into his path.

The striker added the second on 17 minutes when he reacted quickest from a corner to bag his brace before he was denied a hat-trick after the restart as his goal-bound shot was blocked.

Le Fondre then turned provider for his strike partner as he played in Pavel Pogrebnyak to make it 3-0 just at half time.

Steve Davies rifled home an unstoppable effort from 30 yards on 65 minutes to reduce the deficit, but Le Fondre completed his hat-trick minutes later to end the game as a contest.

Hal Robson-Kanu put the gloss on the result with a long-range strike towards the end of the game.
