Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso labels UEFA rules "unfair" ahead of final suspension

Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso labels the UEFA rules as "unfair" following the midfielder's yellow card against Bayern Munich, which will see him miss the Champions League final.

Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso has labelled UEFA rules as "unfair" following the midfielder's yellow card in Tuesday evening's Champions League tie, which rules him out of the final in Lisbon.

Due to Alonso's previous yellow card in the quarter-finals against Borussia Dortmund, the 32-year-old will now miss the final on May 24.

"More than being an unfair card, I think it's an unfair rule. The road to the final is very complicated," Alonso told Sky Sports News.

Alonso was booked for a reckless tackle in the 38th minute against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening, prompting the disciplinary procedure.

Real Madrid will meet the winner of tonight's match between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on May 24.
