Real Madrid secured their spot in the final of the competition courtesy of a 5-3 success over Atletico Madrid, while Barcelona recorded a 2-0 victory over Osasuna in the tournament's second semi-final.

Barcelona are the most successful side in the history of this competition, lifting the trophy on 14 occasions, while Real Madrid are second in the list on 12 trophies.

Real Madrid just about lead the overall head-to-head record between the two sides, with Los Blancos recording 104 wins to Barcelona's 100, while there have also been 51 draws in El Clasico history.

The Whites have won the last two matches between the teams, including a 2-1 success in La Liga earlier this season, while they also beat Barcelona 4-0 in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final last April.

Barcelona's last victory over Real Madrid was a 2-1 triumph in La Liga last March, while they beat their rivals 3-1 in the final of last year's Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

These two teams have met on 16 occasions in the Spanish Super Cup, with Real Madrid also leading the head-to-head record with nine wins to Barcelona's five, while there have been just two draws.

Los Blancos have actually won four of their last five games in the competition against Barcelona, but the Catalan outfit have been victorious in four of their last seven meetings in all competitions.

Real Madrid went on a five-game winning run against Barcelona in all competitions between March 2020 and January 2022, before Barcelona went on to win four of the next five games between the two sides.

Lionel Messi is comfortably the all-time leading goalscorer in this fixture, netting 26 times, while ex-Real Madrid forwards Alfredo Di Stefano and Cristiano Ronaldo are joint-second on the list with 18 each.

The two teams will not meet again in La Liga until the end of April, and Real Madrid also lead the head-to-head when it comes to league meetings, recording 78 victories to Barcelona's 74.
