How Real Madrid could line up against Sevilla

Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up in Sunday night's La Liga clash with Sevilla.

Fresh from Wednesday's 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Real Madrid will continue their La Liga campaign at table-toppers Sevilla on Sunday night.

Los Blancos saw their European campaign get off to a poor start in the French capital, but Zinedine Zidane's side are currently third in La Liga - two points off leaders Sevilla.

Madrid were held at Villarreal in their last away league fixture at the start of the month, but the capital giants did record a 3-1 victory at Celta Vigo on the opening weekend of the new campaign.

Sevilla have won each of the last four La Liga meetings between the two teams at the Estadio Ramon - including a 3-0 success towards the start of last season, which shows the size of Madrid's task on Sunday.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Los Blancos could line up in the key league fixture.

POSS RM XI vs. SEV

Out: Marco Asensio (Knee)
Doubtful: Luka Modric (thigh), Brahim Diaz (groin), Isco (hamstring), Marcelo (neck), Federico Valverde (muscle)

Sergio Ramos was suspended for Wednesday's clash with PSG, but the club captain will be available this weekend in what is a huge boost for the European giants.

Marcelo is still struggling with a neck problem, though, which suggests that Ferland Mendy will continue alongside Dani Carvajal and Raphael Varane at the back.

Luka Modric's ongoing thigh issue mean that Zidane has problems in midfield, with Isco and Federico Valverde both doubts to overcome injuries in time to feature at the Estadio Ramon. As a result, James Rodriguez could again start in the middle of the park alongside Casemiro and Toni Kroos.

Gareth Bale was banned for the 3-2 win over Levante last weekend, but the Wales international scored a double against Villarreal the week before and should feature in a forward position.

Eden Hazard is also expected to make his second start for the club despite struggling against PSG, with Zidane having limited options in the final third of the field.

Brahim Diaz could make the bench for the visitors, but Marco Asensio faces a battle to play again this season after suffering a serious knee injury ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
