How Real Madrid could line up against Paris Saint-Germain

Ahead of Wednesday's Champions League fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, Sports Mole looks at how the visitors could line up at the Parc des Princes.

Real Madrid head to Paris on Wednesday for the opening game of their Champions League campaign this season, targeting a repeat of their win in 2018 that sent the Ligue 1 giants out of the competition.

Coach Zinedine Zidane returns to the scene of his 1998 World Cup win with France following a start to the La Liga season in which the 13-time Champions League winners have won two of their first four matches.

They have remained unbeaten but will be without the ingenuity of Eden Hazard as they look to extend that record within a group that also contains Galatasaray and Club Brugge.

This opener is also a chance for Madrid to banish memories of last season's Champions League, when they were well beaten at home by semi-finalists Ajax in the knockout stages.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Zidane could set his side up against an injury-hit PSG outfit.

Hazard finally made his Real Madrid debut on Saturday, coming on for the final 30 minutes against Levante having been out with a thigh injury since the start of the season.

The marquee summer signing from Chelsea is likely to have a pivotal role to play in any success his side have in the later stages of the Champions League this season, but Zidane is not willing to risk him against PSG as he continues his progressive comeback.

That could mean Karim Benzema, the scorer of the opening two goals on Saturday, continues in attack, although Luka Jovic is a dangerous option should Zidane opt for an alternative.

As well as missing the creative talents of Hazard, Isco and Luka Modric, the visitors have suffered a fresh injury blow with the news that left-back Marcelo will be out with a neck injury.

Marcelo's absence gives Ferland Mendy, the France full-back signed from Lyon in the summer, the chance to play on familiar soil.
