Real Madrid are ready to re-appoint Jose Mourinho as head coach of the Spanish giants, according to a report.

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to re-appoint Jose Mourinho as head coach of the Spanish giants.

Zinedine Zidane only returned to the Bernabeu in the latter stages of the 2018-19 campaign, and Los Blancos are third after four games of the new La Liga season.

The capital club suffered a 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night, though, and it is understood that Zidane's spot as head coach is far from secure.

Madrid's failure to sell Gareth Bale and sign Manchester United's Paul Pogba during the summer transfer window has allegedly led to friction between Zidane and club president Florentino Perez.

Tottenham Hotspur's Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a potential move to Spain, but according to The Sun, the European giants are lining up Mourinho.

The 56-year-old, who has been without a position since being sacked by Manchester United last December, managed Madrid between May 2010 and June 2013.

The Portuguese won just under 72% of his 178 matches in charge of Los Blancos, delivering the La Liga title, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup during his time in the capital.
