Real Madrid vs. Las Palmas: Head-to-head record and past meetings ahead of La Liga showdown

Ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash between Las Palmas and Real Madrid, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

Real Madrid will be bidding to record their 14th La Liga victory of the 2024-25 campaign when they host Las Palmas on Sunday afternoon.

Los Blancos will enter the clash off the back of a 5-2 success over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey, which booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Carlo Ancelotti's side were thumped 5-2 by Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, though, and this contest will represent their first match in Spain's top flight since a 2-1 success over Valencia on January 3.

Real Madrid are second in the La Liga table, one point behind the leaders Atletico Madrid, who are on their best run of wins in their entire history.

Las Palmas, meanwhile, have recovered from a poor start to the season to rise up the table in recent weeks, with the team currently 14th in the division.

However, Diego Martinez's side will enter this match off the back of successive losses, going down 4-0 to Elche in the Copa del Rey at the start of the month before suffering a 2-1 home loss to Getafe in the league last weekend.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides ahead of their La Liga clash this weekend.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 77
Las Palmas wins: 9
Draws: 16
Real Madrid wins: 52

Real Madrid tend to fare well when they go toe-to-toe with Las Palmas, having won 52 of their 77 matches against the team from Gran Canaria, highlighting the tough test that awaits the visitors to the capital on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides went over five years without a head-to-head meeting before they recommenced battle at Bernabeu in September 2023. On that occasion, Carlo Ancelotti's charges recorded a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Brahim Diaz and Joselu.

Another victory followed in January's reverse fixture, as Javi Munoz saw his opener cancelled out by Vinicius Junior before Aurelien Tchouameni netted an 84th-minute winner.

However, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the early stages of the 2024-25 campaign, with Vinicius on the scoresheet after Alberto Moleiro had sent Las Palmas ahead.

Real Madrid have managed to avoid defeat in each of their previous 10 head-to-head encounters, racking up 28 goals across that unbeaten run, including a seven-goal haul in a dominant win in February 2002, when Fernando Morientes grabbed five for himself.

In fact, the reigning Spanish champions have not failed to register a goal against Las Palmas since suffering a 1-0 away defeat in March 1982.

From Las Palmas' perspective, they have not taken a point off Real Madrid in the capital since drawing 3-3 at Bernabeu in March 2017 - a game where they appeared to be on course for a surprise win until Cristiano Ronaldo netted a late brace.

Meanwhile, their most recent head-to-head win took place in October 2001 when they recorded a 4-2 home victory in a game where Real Madrid were reduced to 10 men following Pedro Munitis's 54th-minute red card.

Ruben Castro made full use of the numerical advantage, scoring in the 75th and 93rd minute to end Las Palmas' 15-year wait for a win over Real Madrid.

Las Palmas have never beaten Real Madrid at Bernabeu, so there is history on offer for the visitors this weekend.
