Atletico Madrid 'want to sign Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid'

Atletico Madrid are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz.

Diego Simeone's side are expected to be in the market for a new striker ahead of the 2020-21 campaign as the speculation surrounding Diego Costa's future continues to gather pace.

According to Fichajes, Atletico have identified Mariano as a potential summer arrival, with the 26-year-old expected to be available for transfer in the coming months.

A recent report claimed that Los Blancos were prepared to offload the Dominican Republic international, who has only featured on four occasions for Zinedine Zidane's side this season.

The attacker, who has a contract at the Bernabeu until June 2023, returned to Madrid in 2018 following a successful spell with Lyon, where he scored 21 times in 48 appearances.

Mariano scored his only league goal of the current season in his side's 2-0 win over Barcelona in March.
