Barcelona 'make final attempt to hijack Real Madrid's Neymar bid'

Barcelona will reportedly make one final push to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer after falling behind Real Madrid in the race for his signature.

Barcelona will reportedly make one final push to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar this summer after being overtaken by bitter rivals Real Madrid in the race for his signature.

The Brazilian's future has been one of the major talking points of this transfer window, with both the player and PSG making no secret of his desire to leave the club.

Le Parisiens are refusing to budge on their asking price of a world-record-equalling £200m, though, which is something Barcelona have not been able to afford following their £108m purchase of Antoine Griezmann.

Reports yesterday suggested that Madrid have now seriously revived their interest in Neymar and have made a bid of £111m plus Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric.

Los Blancos are now thought to be leading the race for his signature, but Spanish outlet Sport reports that Barcelona will return with another offer of their own, which could include Philippe Coutinho as a makeweight.

Neymar was also linked to both Spanish giants before eventually choosing Barca in 2013, going on to score 105 goals in 186 appearances during his four years at the club.

Spanish teams have until September 2 to sign new players.
